One of the biggest names from 1970s/1980s comic book movies is gone.

Margot Kidder, who played super-reporter Lois Lane in the first four Superman films died on Sunday at her home in Livingston, Mont. She was 69.

Her acting career began in the late-1960s and included roles up until last year, but she's best-known for her time across from Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman beginning with the landmark 1978 film.

"Nothing prepares anyone for that sudden thing of being world-famous, it was such a shock," she said in a past interview. "It wasn't something I really liked or something I was very good at. I didn't realize how good the movie was until I [had] seen it at the premier in Washington."

More than half of Kidder's solo trading cards are certified autographs, though her first card appearances (cards not specifically about her) date back to the first Topps Superman movie set in 1978. Oddly, her earliest certified autograph appears from a different franchise completely as she is in the 2003 Rittenhouse The Outer Limits set. After that, she appeared on her first Superman-related autograph in the 2005 Inkworks Smallville Season 4 set after she played Bridgette Crosby in the Superman origin series.

The largest volume of autographed cards for Kidder came with the arrival of what is now Panini America's Donruss Americana brands in 2008, though she signed just 451 total cards across two products, Americana II and Americana Celebrity Cuts. After that Leaf Trading Cards added her to the fold with a handful of cards in 2010 Pop Century and she then had autographs in 2011 In The Game Canadiana and had a small number of cards in Pop Century and Americana that year. Her final certified autos came in a Smallville set in 2012 -- the Seasons 7-10 release from Cryptozoic.

Ironically, she didn't know much about Superman before taking on her biggest role.

"I had a very fierce English teacher mother who felt that children should not read comic books. So I didn't know anything about it," Kidder once said in an interview. "I read one comic before my screen test and it was about The Daily Planet having a bowling tournament with those terrible women's libbers. I thought of myself as a feminist, so I read this and went 'What is this?' So I based my interpretation on the script."
