The Price: $879 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The speculators in Shohei Ohtani cardboard might be less speculative now that he is facing injury issues that could sideline him for some time -- at least it's looking that way. But, if this one had been found a month ago, it would be much pricier than that asking price. No matter what he does in MLB from here on out -- on the mound or with his bat -- he'll always be an established star in Japan. That's what makes this one seem under-priced to me.

It's not new and fresh from a pack, but the price tag attached?

Well, it's a jaw-dropper.

It's a nearly perfect copy of Nolan Ryan's 1968 Topps Rookie Card -- a hobby classic that's chased by both New Yorkers who remember his early days with an iconic World Series-winning team, but also the fans of a rugged Texan who struck out more players than anyone else in MLB history. (And maybe by a few Jerry Koosman fans, too.)

Is it worth that? Perhaps to the right deep-pocketed collector -- but maybe not for that much, though Ryan was MLB's first million-dollar-a-year player when he signed with the Houston Astros in 1980.

Our annual trip back in time officially arrives on Wednesday as 2017 Topps Heritage hits once again with a look back at the burlap design of 1968 Topps using today's stars.

Part of that package will be variations that are based on errors and variations from the original set that it seeks to replicate (at least in part) and we'll get to those right here as they arrive.

For now, though, our gallery here will include looks at the basics and other fun finds as they arrive -- and they have started to show up from Topps and they'll be hitting eBay auctions via retail breaks at any time now.

Demand for The Mick continues to be an all-time high.

A run of high-grade Mickey Mantle Topps and Bowman baseball cards from 1951 to 1969 sold for more than $750,000 this weekend in a Memory Lane Inc. auction.

"The Empire State Collection" consisted of 21 PSA-graded cards and, according to the company, 14 of them set new record-highs for their condition.

But back when Topps was putting together its 1968 baseball card set, he was just a rookie pitcher for the New York Mets -- a guy who was famously forced to share his Rookie Card with a teammate, Jerry Koosman.
