Topps revealed its plans for a 2017 Topps Holiday baseball card set on Tuesday and it's once again a Walmart-only release that features some different looks for cards from the three flagship Topps releases but with a new holiday twist for the release.

Wave 6 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases -- and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.

2016-17 Panini Threads NBA hobby boxes & cases
Threads is a simple formula but it's a comfortable one with two hits per box -- one autograph and one memorabilia card -- and a feel that's more deluxe than, say, NBA Hoops but still with some of the basics that give it a good collectable feel. (Check out this past break.) You can land ink from the likes of Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony here along with ink from the rookies, too. The memorabilia cards can include Hall of Famers, too, like that past break does, helping offer some extra scope for a price that's now pretty low. It's worth a rip for sure and it leads off this round of picks from this collector.

2016 Panini Absolute Football retail Premium Box
At this sale price, this one is definitely worth checking out since last year's rookie crop is stacked and this one includes two exclusive hits -- one blue auto and one blue memorabilia card -- in every box. This one is a simple retail take on a memorabilia-focused favorite of mine and there could be even more retail-only colors found in boxes, too. If those are big names such as Dak Prescott or Ezekiel Elliott -- or any of the other newcomers that are making a mark -- you're way ahead with this price. Either way, it's a fun rip -- and you can grab it by the case, too.

2016 Topps Heritage Minor League Baseball hobby box
You may not recognize the uniforms here but they're creative -- and wearing them are names you should know with guys like Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Rhys Hoskins on the checklist. The crop of players here is pretty strong and so is the signers list in a product that takes the 1967 Topps design back to the minor leagues. Atop the signers list that includes Dansby Swanson, Andrew Benintendi, Alex Bregman, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout for starters, they're all on-card autographs here. A couple of boxes should get you a basic base set and a number of the inserts that this one includes. It's a simple but fun break and you can see a sample box here.

The arrival of 2017 Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition baseball cards this week offers an interesting twist on the products that have been, relatively speaking, a fun rip in recent years.

The idea? A signed buyback card in every pack -- except this time it's today's stars on cards from the recent past and on their Rookie Cards, a bit of a do-over with signed RCs or prospect cards for those who never had them.

Aaron Judge has a high-dollar 2013 Bowman Chrome auto with a full rainbow but this time his base card gets enhanced, stamped and encased and somebody will land that for the price of box. With 99 copies signed, it's actually one card that's very plentiful in this release-- and yet one of them sold for $350 on eBay.

Topps and New Era are bringing the cards to the caps.

Two baseball card sets -- 2017 Topps and 1987 Topps -- get some of their design touches added to caps in a new line from New Era that will be available in some MLB ballparks and other stores beginning next week. All teams will be had in caps that have their visors branded using memorable elements from the card sets as well as a Topps logo on the side.
