Fast Five is a quick list that might offer a basic starting point for a themed collection or new focus -- five things that could be fun for a beginner or a new way to add something to your stash if you're a grizzled veteran.

This time? Five NFL players who impressed Buzz in Week 8.

THE LONE WOLF
Elijah Mitchell -- RB, 49ers (Rookie Cards in 2021 boxes)
Only one running back topped the 100-yard mark this week and it was this guy, who has barely cracked the NFL cardboard ranks with uniformed cards in just a few sets so far this year. This sixth-round pick out of Louisiana had 18 carries for a career-high 137 yards and a TD in a 33-22 win over the Bears on Sunday. It was his third 100-yard game of the year -- and he's only played five games -- and the 49ers have won each of those. He's made this list before -- as more of a dark-horse pick -- but three big games in just five played might mean something more. The next-highest RB yardage this week? Just 91. Mitchell's auto isn't much to write home about -- I loathe initial-graphs, myself -- and he's got a few draft picks appearances, too, but his NFL uniform cards are what should get the look from both quick-flippers and those holding for a little longer this season.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka is the latest star to be revealed by Panini for its big event coinciding with The National this weekend. He's the fourth guest announced for the event rewarding high-rollers in the hobby.

The Chicago Bears rolled to a 48-10 victory over a team that had been a bit of a surprise so far this season, the Tampa Bay Bucs, and its second-year quarterback delivered big in the win.

Mitchell Trubisky threw for just 354 yards -- eight QBs topped that this week -- but his six touchdown passes were just one short of the all-time NFL record for the most in a game. While he's obviously been on the minds of Bears fans, he's had a relatively forgettable season so far despite his team's 3-1 record. Before yesterday, his best game this season was 200 passing yards with just two TDs and two interceptions. Those were his only passing TDs of the year before the Bucs came to town. >> Check out his autos on eBay

This type of game should focus more collectors back onto the possibilities with his Rookie Cards and key autos from last season's boxes as well as those from this year. A trip to Miami is next up so we'll see whether the win streak continues with fireworks from Mr. Biscuit.

If you're a long-time reader of The Buzz, then you've seen this card before, but with the Super Bowl last night in Minneapolis there was a reason for it to hit The Buzz's Twitter Machine, too.

It's a 1992 Pro Line Profiles card for Hall of Famer Howie Long, and it was among the few tweets in an 11-hour marathon for Super Bowl LII last night simply because of the tree-climbing kid on the right.

Why? That's Eagles defensive end Chris Long, who was roughly six years old at the time of this family portrait that made its way to cardboard -- and that's far from the only piece of trivia here.

With Leonard Fournette out due to injury, Deshaun Watson on a bye week and Kareem Hunt on Thursday night, yesterday's NFL action was a stage primed for a new rookie arrival or two.

And three did.

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones put up his best game of the season on Sunday with 17 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown while the spotlight was on QB Brett Hundley playing in place of Aaron Rodgers. Jones also caught three passes for seven yards. This fifth-rounder out of UTEP actually had a 125-yard game in Week 5 and a score in that game, too, but that was all lost in the glow of Rodgers' fourth-quarter comeback win-sealing TD against the Cowboys.

Jones appears on fewer than 100 different football cards so far in 2017 releases and has a modest number of autographs that are only found in Absolute, Certified Cuts, Leaf Draft, Gold Standard and Unparalleled. That sounds like a lot, but in reality it's nine cards in Unparalleled and no more than five (and mostly three) in others. That's not a lot when he's in the spotlight. (Update: He's also in Prizm, which arrives this week.)

There were surprises and new arrivals on the NFL rookie front -- and that's just Week 1.

Six newcomers stepped up with none perhaps more surprising the Kansas City RB Kareem Hunt, who helped the Chiefs pull off a dominating 42-27 win over the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots on Thursday night. He had 17 carries for 148 yards and a touchdown — and seven catches for 133 yards and a 75-yard score. Not bad for a third-rounder out of Toledo.

As you should already know from last week, he already appears on more than 450 different cards with nearly 300 of those being certified autos. He’s got 15 RCs so far by the standard (non-insert) definition and nearly 140 memorabilia cards and is found in most 2017 releases -- just like most of our other notables from Sunday.

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard had one of the more-impressive seasons for a rookie this year and he's got at least one "variation" in 2016 Panini Contenders that's even more interesting than his showing on the field.

At least one collector has found one of these cards -- and it's unknown whether others even exist -- but this on-card auto above appears to have been by someone else.

Rashaan Salaam, the winner of the Heisman Trophy as the top college football player in the country back in 1994, died on Monday and was found in a park in Boulder, Colo. He was 42.

The former Colorado Buffaloes star rushed for 2,055 yards and 24 touchdowns in his final college season before playing four years in the NFL. The Chicago Bears took him with the 21st pick in the 1995 NFL Draft and as a rookie he rushed for 1,074 yards and 10 touchdowns. He added just 610 yards and three scores the remainder of his career, which ended as a member of the Cleveland Browns in 1999.

He was a coach for two of the greatest teams in NFL history, a defensive mastermind and a coach that his players revered.

He's Buddy Ryan, a 26-year veteran of the coaching ranks and an innovator in the game. He was a young defensive coach for the New York Jets that won Super Bowl III. He was the brains behind the 46 defense and the dominating Chicago Bears that steamrolled their way to a victory in Super Bowl XX.

"Buddy was such an integral part of the Chicago Bears and the '85 Bears, it was unbelievable," former Bears coach Mike Ditka told NFL.com. "There's no way we win anything without that defense, without his coaching and I think everybody understands that. We won because of our defense, we can never forget that. That's just the way it was."

He died on Tuesday at age 82 -- and he's also a legend you won't find often on cardboard.

Jeremy Langford might not be the Bears rookie that many thought would be stirring things up in Chicago, but in Week 10 he was just that with 20 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown as well as seven catches for 109 yards and a score. On the season, the fourth-rounder out of Michigan State has four rushing touchdowns and 225 yards -- most of that in the last two weeks. when Matt Forte has been out due to injury. Could the Bears have a new option here on offense? Sure seems like it.
