The Blowout Cards Forums are where thousands of collectors converge daily to discuss, well, a little bit of everything. Here are five threads about collecting and more that you should check out right now.
What's Buzzing Today: Griffey to Cooperstown, Chris Sale & his scissors, new breaks, 2016 Topps Allen & Ginter, The National & more.

Plenty has changed in the sports card world in the last decade and BlowoutTV had a group break on Monday afternoon that proved it.The break was a case of 2006 National Treasures football cards -- a case that was made by a company that no longer exists but a lineage that continues today with Panini America.
Getting in on the break wasn't bad -- a four-box case ran just over $100 for two teams per spot -- and it reinforced the notion that old wax can still pack surprises no matter what changes in the hobby.
In fact, the final card in the final box was of a Hall of Famer -- a 1/1 autograph of a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

When it comes to women's basketball, there's one name that should come to mind first -- the long-time coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols, Pat Summitt. She died Tuesday at age 64.
The Hall of Famer won more Division I games than any other coach -- and her wins record still stands on the women's side. She ended her career with 1,038 wins in 38 seasons along with eight national championships, 18 Final Four appearances and 16 SEC championships.
"She truly is a global icon who transcended sports and spent her entire life making a difference in other peoples' lives," UT Athletic Director Dave Hart said in a statement. "She was a genuine, humble leader who focused on helping people achieve more than they thought they were capable of accomplishing. Pat was so much more than a Hall of Fame coach; she was a mother, mentor, leader, friend, humanitarian and inspiration to so many. Her legacy will live on through the countless people she touched throughout her career."
And when it comes to cardboard, there aren't a lot of options for collectors.

"The Gunslinger" Brett Favre was among the players named to this year's Hall of Fame class on Saturday night, meaning he'll be forever enshrined in Canton later this year.
One card pulled in recent days by a collector is this 2015 Panini National Treasures College Notable Nicknames card -- one of only a few cards showing him at Southern Mississippi that's signed and one of even fewer that's signed and inscribed. (And it's pricey.)
Buzz thinks this is close to a perfect piece of cardboard and wonders what you think ... grade this card.

More than 20 years after his death, the memorabilia of Hall of Famer and Los Angeles Dodgers pitching great Don Drysdale is coming to auction.
The sale will be handled by Laguna Niguel, Calif.-based SCP Auctions and will open on April 6 with more than 1,000 lots as part of the overall event.
“We feel honored to have been chosen by the Drysdale family to bring this extraordinary collection to auction,” said SCP Auctions President David Kohler. “Don was among the most accomplished and revered pitchers in Major League Baseball history and his impressive assemblage of awards and accolades speaks volumes as to his winning ways out on the mound.”

Baseball loses Hall of Famer Monte Irvin at age 96

Before he made his big-league debut in 1949, Monte Irvin had been a star in the Negro Leagues who was among the most-respected in the game -- a player who had all-around skills and quite a strong career before making the leap to MLB and ultimate enshrinement in the Hall of Fame.
“Monte was the choice of all Negro National and American League club owners to serve as the No. 1 player to join a white major-league team,” Newark Eagles owner and Hall of Famer Effa Manley once said. “We all agreed, in meeting, he was the best qualified by temperament, character ability, sense of loyalty, morals, age, experiences and physique to represent us as the first black player to enter the white majors since the Walker brothers back in the 1880s. Of course, Branch Rickey lifted Jackie Robinson out of Negro ball and made him the first, and it turned out just fine.”
Irvin, who went on to eight seasons in the big leagues, hitting .293 with 99 homers and 443 RBI beginning as a 30-year-old "rookie," died on Tuesday. He was 96.
Cooperstown calls for Ken Griffey Jr. as well as Mike Piazza

The Baseball Writers' Association of America votes are in, and there's no surprise at the top -- Ken Griffey Jr. is headed to Cooperstown, N.Y., this summer to join baseball's immortals.
He received 99.3 percent of the vote -- a record and three votes short of unanimous -- after his first time on the ballot. Joining him is former Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza, who appeared on 83 percent of the 440 ballots.
Griffey helped usher in a new era of collecting in 1989 as the iconic No. 1 in the first Upper Deck set, a release that helped change the printing and packaging of cards and the collecting expectations of a generation. For those same thirty-somethings and beyond, he's an also icon on the field with his backwards cap and a smooth but powerful left-handed swing that helped produce 630 home runs and countless more memorable moments for the Mariners, Reds and White Sox over 22 seasons but never a World Series at-bat.
Clearly he's one of the greatest players -- and most-beloved players -- in MLB history, a symbol of what's good about the game in an era of bogus records and inflated statistics that have undermined not only the results on the field but also the cardboard of our youth. His enshrinement this summer in Cooperstown will be the stuff that cardboard (and baseball) marketing is made of. In fact, there are already two forthcoming brands -- 2016 Topps Series 2 and 2016 Topps Finest (above right) -- that will spotlight Junior.

This year's Baseball Hall of Fame ballot has been released by the Baseball Writers' Association of America with 15 new names and several players who appeared on last year's ballot but failed to get 75 percent of the votes.
Below is the ballot that all BBWAA members will receive. The writers can vote for as many as 10 players. Those who appear on 75 percent of all ballots cast will be inducted into the Hall. Your challenge here is a bit different.
