BOWMAN'S BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
2022 Bowman's Best University hobby box & eight-box case
The newest box in the big sale is one with a lot of potential between guys who are set to be drafted soon -- or perhaps later -- as well as cards and autos from guys who are already in the NFL. How is this possible? NIL deals that let players show up on cards well before draft time -- and that makes it one with a longer shelf life in terms of potential. Who's in here? Among the already-pro names are C.J. Stroud, Jahmyr Gibbs, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Jordan Addison, Bijan Robinson, Will Anderson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba for starters. Among the 2024 draft hopefuls and potential future picks? Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, Jordan Travis, D.J. Uiagalelei, Dallas Turner, J.C. Latham, Kool-Aid McKinstry and Taulia Tagovailoa to name a few. There are autos for a lot -- it not all -- of them in both insert sets and standard ink as well as a small lineup of rarer dual- and triple-auto cards, too. (There's heat here -- especially when slabbed.) The best part here beyond all of the parallel and potentially Super finds in play are two autographs in every single box. It wasn't that long ago that auction houses were the home of mostly vintage cardboard but those days are gone to a degree -- now it's the big new legendary stuff (with big names of the past) that can heat things up quite a bit.

This weekend's sale over at Pristine Auction is a prime example of this, led by this treasure from Panini America ... and it's not alone with a number of impressive pieces heading into collector hands after bidding ends on Sunday.

ONE POWERFUL PULL 
The Item: A 24-legend 2020 Panini National Treasures NFL Treasure Chest 1/1 booklet card
The Price: $6,825 after 42 bids (ends Sunday)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Where do you start with a card like this when the left panel alone includes patch and tag pieces from the likes of Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning. The middle? I spy Patrick Mahomes, Joe Namath, Roger Staubach and Drew Brees. And the right side? Well, that one includes Aaron Rodgers and Steve Young for starters on this quarterback classic. There's no need to name them all or overstate the obvious with this loaded 24-legend booklet as it's the only one that exists with all of these patch pieces embedded into it. Pristine calls it "nothing short of epic" and the final price should get even more dramatic before it ends. In case you're wondering, the card notes that the Brady, Brees, Griese, Foles and McMahon swatches are game-used. It's an epic find with so much NFL success all in one spot.

2017 Panini Crown Royale NFL retail premium box
This wave might be the strongest of them all if you ask me and this box's potential is one big reason why I say that. Back when I opened my only box of this one, I landed a Christian McCaffrey Platinum Rookie Card parallel -- a big deal this season -- but that's not the biggest rookie here ... you have a shot at Patrick Mahomes RCs and their parallels as well as ink and memorabilia cards. You get two hits per box here -- one auto, one mem -- and the strong rookie crop makes it a no-brainer at a price not dramatically higher than it was back when it arrived. It's not the flashiest design, but it's got some good potential.

The Card: Baker Mayfield Playbook Vault Tri-Fold Jersey Auto Premium (1/1)
The Price: $4,599.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I'd argue that these Vault cards are the most-impressive finds from this booklet-loaded brand and Mayfield might be the hottest rookie right now. The 1/1 versions of these cards are almost comically stacked with logos from various types of memorabilia but they carry a stronger feel than the simpler versions. (Buzz would be happy to pull any of these ... any type, any player ... I like books.) This is a card that will be locked away in a collection somewhere once it goes and it probably won't ever be seen again.
