2013 Panini Prizm Perennial Draft Picks baseball hobby box
Every box of this one includes four autographs, three inserts and six Prizm parallels -- that's not a lot and Panini America added more in subsequent Prizm releases but there are a couple of names that make this box notable at its reduced price. They are Kris Bryant and Mookie Betts and both of those MVP candidates can be found within the Prizm rainbow of autographs here. Others of note within these packs? Carlos Correa, Joc Pederson, Clint Frazier, Byron Buxton, Clint Frazier, Maikel Franco, Jose Abreu and Aaron Judge. The right rare shade here could be easy profits based on the box prices.

The Chicago Cubs' World Series win is big business -- on cardboard and beyond -- but Buzz has a question.

Did you buy any Cubs cards after their championship?

Plenty of collectors did as, for example, the 2016 Topps Now Chicago Cubs World Series Championship set came in two forms -- an autograph set for $149.99 that included one signed card and a standard one that was $49.99. The pricey one sold 2,581 copies and the unsigned set sold 6,636 -- not shabby but probably still just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a history-making win and sales.

2008 Upper Deck Goudey baseball hobby box
This one is a fun retro box to rip with its 1930s design and it's one that has some serious potential when it comes to autographs. Signers in these two-hit-per boxes include Albert Pujols, Derek Jeter, Gordie Howe, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Nolan Ryan, Sidney Crosby, Tiger Woods, Johnny Bench, Dan Marino, Julius Erving, Ken Griffey Jr., Willie McCovey and plenty more. It will take some luck to find some of them, but they are in there along with a Clayton Kershaw Rookie Card and plenty more among the base cards and inserts.

If you're a veteran prospector you've probably ripped into a few Bowman Draft cases through the years, but the latest big break from BlowoutTV is one that has to impress even the most-grizzled of hobby veterans.

It's a 50-case break of 2015 Bowman Draft. Yep, 50 cases. That's 600 boxes. That's 14,400 packs. That's a whole lot of potential.

The clock is winding down on the auction for this break with a deadline on ink tonight (click here for the basics) and there are a few players who should grab the attention of prospectors. Among notables here are Andrew Benintendi, Brendan Rodgers and Dansby Swanson to name a few and there are inevitably other gems to be found with color or Superfractor potential in that much wax.

The Chicago Cubs' World Series championship has prompted plenty of memorabilia and, of course, with that success comes high demand and higher costs for companies to get players to sign.

That's the price of doing business.

2014 Panini Elite Extra Edition baseball hobby box
There are plenty of autographs to be found in boxes of this one -- and there are Hot Boxes that up the ante, too -- but right now there's one autograph that arguably stands out from the rest.

It's Kyle Schwarber. The Chicago Cubs' slugger makes his debut here and has a solid amount of available ink inside the wrappers thanks to the standard autos and parallels atop that.

Other signers here include a heavy-selling Trea Turner, Kris Bryant, Byron Buxton, Michael Conforto, Luis Severino and plenty more (though some of those big names are as insert autos). Also in play here is an under-rated Cuban National Team memorabilia card of Jose Abreu with a piece of his national team jersey -- that's quite unique in the hobby aside from World Baseball Classic releases.

At its reduced price, this one's worth the shot -- and it's not alone.

The Topps Mega Box is back -- but only at Target stores.

Topps revealed its plans for a 2016 Topps Chrome Update baseball card set on Thursday and, like past years, those cards will be retail-only finds in its holiday Mega Box offering that will have a limited retail release this holiday season.

And there will be some new inclusions when they start hitting stores this week.

The Chicago Cubs World Series memorabilia isn't limited to trading cards and the typical items that collectors might chase and the Chicago Tribune already is getting in on the action beyond its day job.

In addition to its newspapers, the company already is selling poster reprints and commemorative printing plates of its front pages from the World Series (above) as well as from the Cubs' postseason run. It's also readying a book, which is up for sale now on its website.

These happen somewhat regularly for major markets and team championships but they haven't for hungry Cubs fans, who hadn't seen a World Series title since 1908.

The Chicago Cubs ended more than a century of futility on Thursday morning in Cleveland, winning the seventh game of the World Series in a rain-delayed extra-inning affair.

Minutes later, Topps announced the cardboard to go with it -- the 2016 Topps Chicago Cubs World Series Championship set. There will be a standard version for $49.99 along with an autographed version that will include one randomly inserted signature card from top names on the team for $149.99.

They are presently available for pre-order on Topps.com.

The MLBPA has approved a licensing deal for a new fantasy baseball game to arrive this spring that will utilize packs of cards as part of the action.

It's Honus Bonus Fantasy Baseball and it's being launched by Rittenhouse Archives president Steve Charendoff, who is also at the helm of Honus Bonus Partners.

"As a lifelong baseball card collector and long-time fantasy game player, it made perfect sense to combine these two overlapping passions in this unique series of cards," Charendoff said in a prepared release. "We're extremely pleased to partner with the MLBPA, particularly at this time when so many of its players are enjoying unprecedented popularity."
