Panini America has another new college quarterback on its team.

University of Alabama Crimson Tide star and Heisman Trophy candidate Jalen Milroe signed an exclusive autographed card deal with the company, which was formally unveiled this week.

"Jalen is one of the premiere players in college football and is another outstanding addition to our family of athletes," said Jason Howarth, Senior VP of Marketing and Athlete Relations. "He will be a great partner for us as we continue to grow our Panini College platform and product offerings."

As part of that deal, according to the company, the junior will have a inked spot in the Panini Instant lineup, Panini marketing and in, of course, in standard in-pack football releases.

What happens when an established college cardboard commodity has a break-out game? We're about to find out ...

Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman QB Arch Manning -- the nephew of Eli and Peyton -- propelled his team to a dominating victory on Saturday and to the top of the AP rankings with a crazy day in relief of an injured starter, Quinn Ewers.

Manning completed nine of 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for one more in a 56-7 drubbing of UTSA and that's just one more reason why people are buying and chasing down his cards from Panini America right now and perhaps more than ever before. That chasing wasn't a new thing -- he was a known player on cardboard (Thanks, NIL!) since before his first real snaps for Texas last season (one game) and first TDs (one passing, one rushing in some garbage time) last month.

Just like that, Manning has seemingly arrived -- depending on Ewers' injury status -- and just like the Heisman chatter the cardboard chatter has intensified for a lot of his stuff, which was already selling well.

Thanks to NIL deals the last few years, it's rare for a notable player to not have cards these days -- at least players from major schools -- and this officially licensed set that's the focus of The List includes a bunch of guys drafted just last night, including the No. 1 pick, as well as a bunch of guys in the NFL right now who were drafted last year. 2022 Bowman's Best University hobby box & eight-box case
The newest box in the big sale is one with a lot of potential between guys who are set to be drafted soon -- or perhaps later -- as well as cards and autos from guys who are already in the NFL. How is this possible? NIL deals that let players show up on cards well before draft time -- and that makes it one with a longer shelf life in terms of potential. Who's in here? Among the already-pro names are C.J. Stroud, Jahmyr Gibbs, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Jordan Addison, Bijan Robinson, Will Anderson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba for starters. Among the 2024 draft hopefuls and potential future picks? Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, Jordan Travis, D.J. Uiagalelei, Dallas Turner, J.C. Latham, Kool-Aid McKinstry and Taulia Tagovailoa to name a few. There are autos for a lot -- it not all -- of them in both insert sets and standard ink as well as a small lineup of rarer dual- and triple-auto cards, too.
