Panini America's new exclusive NBA signer is as big as it gets in San Antonio -- and he's a Hall of Famer who hasn't signed for years.

He's Tim Duncan and his new deal with the company was revealed today ends a streak of not having any certified autographs in almost 20 years. He will debut in 2023-24 Panini Crown Royale early next year and then in 2023-24 Panini Impeccable.

"It’s been years since I’ve had an autographed trading card," Duncan said in a prepared statement. "I felt it was time to return to the industry so fans could get the chance to get cards with my signature. Trading cards have come a long way since I last signed them. Panini America has developed some really cool cards and brands while taking the popularity of NBA trading cards to a whole new level, so it made sense to partner with them."

That first auto being a redemption now has a redeeming quality.

Topps revealed on Friday plans for the The Ultimate Collector Experience -- an event where any collector who pulled one of the 99 redemptions for the Victor Wembanyama Green Refractor autograph card from packs of 2022-23 Bowman University Chrome can attend an event on Sept. 23 in San Antonio where they will have a shot at receiving the inscribed first signed card.

Those who already redeemed their codes will be notified by Topps and a deadline for any newer pulls to be redeemed is Sept. 8. One person who attends in-person or virtually with a card will get the one-of-a-kind inscribed copy.

"After you’ve submitted your Wemby redemption card code, you will be invited to attend the live in-person Ultimate Collector Experience by Topps, where you will then be eligible to be randomly selected to receive the 2022-23 Bowman U Chrome Victor Wembanyama Green parallel '1st card I ever signed' inscribed auto," read the Topps reveal. "If you are unable to join us in person, you will still be eligible to receive the 2022-23 Bowman U Chrome Victor Green parallel '1st card I ever signed' inscribed auto as your redemption by participating virtually."

Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.

So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ... a mix of low-and and higher-end finds as well as some non-traditional things people might like to collect.

MY HERITAGE SLEEPER SET ... 
The Card: Hank Aaron 2023 Topps Heritage Puzzles (announced /500)
The Price: $17.99
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This oversized box-topper set isn't huge at just 20 puzzles on the checklist but they don't drop all that often, either, from what I have seen -- one per case at most (and maybe not at all). It's one that I knew I liked immediately back when Heritage dropped with its lineup of mostly current names but also with some past stars all in one spot. What are they? Literal puzzles shrink-wrapped to a cardboard backer placed atop the packs in some boxes. A total of 13 active players (two rookies) are here along with seven Hall of Famers -- but some obvious names like Shohei Ohtani didn't make the cut ... so I suspect we'll see more in the second series later this year. I liked a few of the options in this one but waited for prices to dip and they really haven't as much as I had hoped they would. (Why? They're on the rarer side of things compared to a lot of stuff in this one.) This one presented itself on more of the affordable side more recently so I bit. These are just oldschool cool if you ask me -- something that feels a bit anti-2023 but also not totally part of a rigid Heritage formula that's been going for two decades plus now. I like surprises -- and this set felt like one.

"The Latvian Laser" has been shooting things up on the court of late and there's one thing that matters right now with that.

Davis Bertans appears on just one Rookie Card.

That one comes from back in 2016-17 Panini Threads and it's got seven parallels and that's it for his standard NBA cardboard, though there is a very small sliver of stuff out there to collect. He's in his fourth NBA season and first with the Washington Wizards where he's averaging 15.8 points and 4.7 rebounds a game mostly coming off the bench. He spent the last three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs where his career-highs for a campaign included 8.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per last season.

Not all game-used items are obviously documentable in this age of super-HD cameras, super-slo-mo replays and non-stop viral replay potential.

While that's tough for some to understand -- something just as perplexing as the idea that not every single little thing at a game can be authenticated and stickered -- it's also not that tough as some types of items are anonymous in their roles before our eyes. While this Collecting Game-used series has stuck with basics like caps, balls, bases and pucks in the past, this month's piece isn't one where I can definitively photo-match it to in-game action. However, it is authenticated as close as possible as it can be -- it's legit and it was a pick-up from the last days of Steiner Sports, which will be no more next month after that company was purchased by Fanatics.

Like many collectors, Buzz is a fan of grading and knows that there are many reasons that collectors choose to slab cards. Sometimes it's to enhance the appeal and protect them when selling. Other times it's to protect an investment for the long-term or to protect for sentimental reasons. Or, it might be just for fun or curiosity about a potential grade.

Here's this month's grading diary here on The Buzz ... a super-sized edition this time around that's heavy on MLB and NBA but with a few surprises.

The Cards: 1991-92 SkyBox #544-546 Team USA puzzle
The Reason Graded: I picked up a box of this one for roughly $16 late last year (a bargain price) and pulled two sets of these puzzles, which was good. Why? Because grading these and the other notables from the iconic Hall of Famer-loaded Dream Team is pretty heavy and this one has been on my to-do list. I landed most of the notables more than once but just one Jordan that was noticeably off-centered. These glossed cards on the puzzle could have issues that the standard cards don't have simply because of their surfaces, but mine were clean. I will revisit my second set to see if anything stands out. I may go the PSA route on the other set for variety's sake if I see anything that would make me wonder about potential grades.
The Grades: BGS 9.5

Reality Check: This one was a stressful one as I had hoped for matching grades. Thankfully, that's what I got and that's where most cards land for all three pieces of the puzzle. This is a textbook example of the kind of cardboard that can make you some money with grading, too, as they're no more than $10 total raw, while BGS 9.5s together should top $100 in some cases and asking prices for the middle (Jordan) card alone can be steep. It's memorable cardboard from the past with nothing but iconic players involved, so there's still good demand -- and that's another reason why I slabbed. Wax boxes aren't all that plentiful, either, compared to other boxes around that time.

The Card: 2014 Topps Chrome Update #MB46 Mookie Betts RC
The Reason Graded: I didn't buy a ton of Mega Boxes when these arrived five years ago, but I did land this card, which is a Rookie Debut version for then Red Sox rookie and now-reigning American League MVP Mookie Betts. This card is an ironic classic in that he's captured taking the field at Yankee Stadium. That aspect of the photo isn't as easily seen in Chrome form, but I opted to get this pricier version of the card graded. I'll probably grade some more of my others in the future. For now, though, this one leads the way.
The Grade: BGS 9.5

Reality Check: I wasn't that confident in this one as I just have bad luck at times with Chrome cards, but this one turns out to be one of the highest-graded copies. I'll take it, especially considering what I've got up next.

"The Big Fundamental" has a big Sports Illustrated issue all to himself.

The long-running magazine has released a Tim Duncan retirement issue, which is available now for $12.99. A print of the cover also is available for $19.99 along with issues that can be purchased directly from SI.

A star for the San Antonio Spurs for 19 seasons, Duncan retired on Monday as a five-time NBA champ, a two-time league MVP, a three-time Finals MVP and a 15-time All-Star. His next stop will undoubtedly be the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard just finished his fifth season in the NBA and he's already added to a strong resume that should spark interest in his perhaps still-overlooked cards.

He was named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year for the second season in a row on Monday and that puts him in some elite territory as only the eighth player in league history to win the award in back-to-back seasons and just the ninth multi-time winner.

He's a 7-foot-3 NBA rookie who's on the only team with perhaps the best shot of dethroning the Golden State Warriors' juggernaut. He's a rookie who's only averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds a game but already has regional TV commercial appearances because he's already got a bit of a cult following.

His name is Boban Marjanovic ... and he's a San Antonio Spur who's also now got his first official NBA Rookie Card from Panini America. It's arrived at a perfect time, too.

On Saturday, the No. 1 overall pick scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against the Chicago Bulls, putting him in some elite company.
