Topps' next-to-last NFL release arrived in hobby shops yesterday packing a ton of high-end potential inside.

The brand is 2015 Topps Supreme and these football cards are part of a hit-per-pack product that includes some big names and, of course, plenty of rookies. Each box contains just four cards, but in a case (16 boxes) the breakdown includes four auto Relics, three rookie autos, one multi-auto card and a combination of Relics and hits in the remainder.

One of the more in-demand autographs in the galaxy is now available.

It's the ink of Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley and it can be found via Steiner Sports.

The New Rochelle, N.Y.-based autograph memorabilia company offered nine signed photos on Monday night with prices starting at $649.99 for an 8-by-10 image.

Every once in a while, a player takes over the spotlight in a sport and leading non-collectors to be so intrigued that they battle for cardboard in online auctions without the typical (restraining) mindset of what something should sell for.

There's nothing wrong with that -- if they want it and they'll pay it, that's what it's worth to them  right then.

Right now, Stephen Curry is that player, and, right now, one of those cards is his 2009-10 Topps Rookie Card -- one of 27 RCs that he has and one that has no frills and shows him in the simplest of forms. It's essentially a mugshot in a T-shirt or warmup jacket as Topps was finishing its run with the NBA license at that time.

This no-thrills piece of cardboard -- and its parallel counterparts -- are scorchers that just might surprise collectors right now.

The first cards from 2016 Topps Heritage are starting to trickle onto eBay from retail boxes around the country and we're getting our first looks at new names and new faces in new places on the revival of the 1967 Topps design.

That means David Price with his Red Sox threads, Jason Heyward as a Cub and Rookie Cards of Corey Seager, Kyle Schwarber and a pairing of Aaron Nola and Michael Conforto for starters.

One of Topps' final NFL releases officially arrived in hobby shops around the country last week packing just two autographed cards per box but plenty of potential.

It's the 2015 Topps Strata football card set, and each 12-box case will include a selection of autographs and memorabilia cards all with acetate stock and on-card autographs. There is one standard auto and one auto Relic per box.

Topps has a pair of upcoming non-sports sets in the works -- Star Wars: The Force Awakens Series 2 and Doctor Who Timeless -- and the company has been busy teasing upcoming signers for both releases.

So far, there have been five names announced for both sets. For the Star Wars set, there will be former Alias and Heroes star Greg Grunberg, BB-8 operator Brian Herring, Harriet Walter, Jessica Henwick and David Acord.

More than 30 NFL greats' autographs will be found in a new Topps football product that will begin shipping on on Feb. 29.

The brand is 2015 Topps 60th Anniversary Retired Autographs and it's a one-card pack with an autograph inside. Initially found only on Topps.com, they will sell for $75 a pack.

This high-end brand packs just eight cards into a box and had a pre-order price north of $600.

Either Bryce Harper or Mike Trout who will come to mind first if it's a debate of who's the best in the game, but sometimes it's fun just to look at the outrageous asking prices for these types of players' key cards on eBay.

The 2011 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autographs Refractor you see above leads the league among current auctions for Harper, checking in with an asking price of $24,999.99 Buy it Now. (No, seriously, go look.)

As goofy as that one might be, consider that the top Trout price -- one reportedly paid -- is even higher. That one's for a BGS 10 first Bowman Chrome Refractor auto with a serial number matching Trout's No. 27 on the field.

Topps' annual multi-sport (but still baseball) showcase, Allen & Ginter, doesn't arrive until July, but that didn't stop the company from teasing four autograph inclusions coming in the 11th edition of the retro-styled set on Tuesday.

Topps' presentation at this year's Industry Summit included a few nuggets of info ... here are the most-notable items.

National Baseball Card Day will return this year. ... Topps Supreme baseball (above) will not be made this year. ... Topps Mint baseball will be a new addition to the lineup. ... Japanese star Kenta Maeda's autographs will be coming soon. ... Bowman Chrome and Bowman Draft will have new builds when they arrive. ... No physical football card releases are being planned. ... Topps is still pursuing an autograph deal with Star Wars star Daisy Ridley. ... A high-end 65th Anniversary baseball product is in the works.

Leaf Trading Cards' presentation later in the afternoon included a rundown of the dozen hockey brands, eight package memorabilia brands and four football brands it intends to release this year. ... And Leaf has landed a non-sports big one -- it has signed Star Wars star Daisy Ridley to an autograph deal. Her autographs will appear in Pop Century.

Panini America's session is set for Tuesday afternoon.

With the WWE's final pay-per-view before its showcase event, WrestleMania, set for tonight, the arrival of Topps' newest set, 2016 Topps WWE Road to WrestleMania, is as impressive as its inclusions.

On-card autographs, numbered hits -- even for the manufactured Relics -- and first-time signers such as NXT women's champ Bayley and former NWA champ Dory Funk are just part of the inclusions here that bring a higher-end feel to an affordable low-end release.

We all know Roberto Clemente as a legendary member of the Pittsburgh Pirates and a Hall of Famer who helped pave the way for Latin American players in MLB.

However, it was today back in 1954 when he signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers and became a member of the Montreal Royals -- the team where Jackie Robinson had started before he broke MLB's color barrier in 1947. The move was largely to block Clemente from being signed by the New York Giants.

Veteran collectors know there's even a baseball card showing this.

The world lost a Pulitzer Prize-winning author on Friday as Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, died at age 89.

An iconic book in American literature and a staple of educational reading, the novel was the only one Lee published in her career -- until a year ago when her second, Go Set a Watchman, arrived 55 years after Mockingbird.

While the story of her book is well known, her life really isn't as she intentionally lived out of the spotlight after her literary success. Lee granted no interviews after 1964 and made very few public appearances in the past and, as a result of this, signed copies of her book are relatively rare given the potential demand. (Translation: They've always been expensive but can be found.)

What's buzz-worthy: This year's Chrome will have all the rainbow shades collectors expect, some rare veteran autos and two autos in every box, but that all might be trumped by the inclusion of 2015 Topps Chrome Carlos Correa Rookie Card autographs as the ink from the reigning American League Rookie of the Year will also be found here.

There has been plenty of Star Wars merchandise in the last year -- and there's still more to come along with plenty of movies -- but there are few Star Wars items that are as rare as the Topps Star Wars Galactic Connexions gold discs.

Just five copies of the Slave Leia disc were made for the first series of Connexions -- and they are found via redemptions since they are made of 14-karat gold. Just two of the five have been found -- a collector named Mike was the latest as seen above -- and there are five more in Series 2.
