The Modern Wax Fund lets serious investors get into cards

Serious investors wanting to get into the card world have a new option.

It's The Modern Wax Fund, which is a first of its kind private-equity fund that is focused on trading cards.

Set to close on Feb. 28, the Fund is a creation of Attic Investments and Blowout Cards. They have packaged more than $3 million in unopened product -- some of the rarest and most-desired baseball, basketball, football and other cards from the modern era -- into the project.

The Fund will hold its assets and sell them unopened in the coming years. The Fund is open to any accredited investors with a $25,000 minimum. Allocation decisions will be made by Feb 20.

"It will own more than 9,000 boxes and is chock-full of product we all wish we had purchased and stored in our closet," said David Arons of Attic Investments. "It is safe to say the assets are under contract at a price below current market value, however, the full asset list and cost to fund is available in Exhibit B of the Private Placement Memorandum and we encourage anyone interested to review and evaluate themselves."
