With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.
This time? Dipping back a few years for a NFL preseason rout.
Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.
THE DETAILS ...
The Category: Pro Football
The Event: Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills -- Aug. 25, 2012 (preseason game)
The Results: Steelers 38, Bills 7
The Attendance: 67,383 at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y.
The Face: $75
The Cost (for me): Literal pocket change as part of a lot.
The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Steelers WR Antonio Brown -- seven catches for 108 yards and two TDs.
Others: The QBs -- Ben Roethlisberger & Byron Leftwich for the Steelers, Vince Young & Ryan Fitzpatrick for the Bills.

What's Buzz-worthy: This one was a spanking with Brown leading the way but, well, he's a collecting non-factor now and this ticket really isn't a good one for a Steelers rout ... unless Billy Buffalo (the mascot) is signing autos or the kid on the right has NFL potential now. (You don't know! Maybe! #sarcasm.) Roethlisberger had 169 passing yards and Leftwich had 105 (and two TDs) while the other side had two other notables throwing but the only score was a rushing TD from Fred Jackson. There are quite a few "names" in the box score but nobody who matters today if you ask me as a collector. What I found interesting and not in a good way here is how this ticket was $75 ... though I guess that view isn't bad for an NFL game (see gallery).
Stud or Dud? I generally don't hate a mascot's presence on cardboard but I'll call this one a Dud from the Bills' perspective. But, hey, at least it was preseason.
