Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 12

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? A look back at a big game from a past phenom who later fizzled.

The Cost (for me): Literal pocket change as part of a lot.

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Aggies QB Johnny Manziel -- 14-for-21 for 244 yards and a TD; 12 carries for 102 yards and two TDs
Others: Mike Evans, Garrett Gilbert, Keenan Holman, Ben Malena, Malcome Kennedy

What's Buzz-worthy: Football season is here so naturally I dug into the box for a gridiron ticket and, well, I found a past biggie. The box score has plenty of names but there's ultimately only one that mattered here for cardboard in that time, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. He finished the year with 37 passing TDs so this one wan't exactly a big part of that total but the rushing totals led the team. Aesthetically the ticket is a bit no-nonsense but it's not Ticketmaster dull ... and some of that is simply the style of A&M stuff. Mike Evans might be the biggest NFL name here but in this game he only had a pair of catches for 57 yards -- a long of 46 so really a one-play day for highlights.

Stud or Dud? In its time? Ticket Stud. Now? It's still actually a little more interesting than a lot of tickets from the past -- both in its look and names attached. It's a Ticket Dud with some what might have been had Manziel's pro career wasn't a punchline.
