With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.
This time? An NFL throwback that has the star player on the ticket itself.
Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.
THE DETAILS ...
The Category: Pro Football
The Event: Jacksonville Jaguars at San Diego Chargers -- Sept. 18, 2016
The Results: Chargers 38, Jaguars 14
The Attendance: 52,165 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif.
The Face: $52
The Cost (for me): Literal pocket change as part of a lot.
The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Chargers QB Philip Rivers 17-for-24 for 220 yards and four TDs
Others: Chargers RB Melvin Gordon III (24 carries for 102, TD), Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (6 catches for 115, 2 TDs) ... Chargers also with TDs from Antonio Gates and Tyrell Williams ... Jags QB Blake Bortles 31-for-50 with 329 yards, two TDs, two picks.

What's Buzz-worthy: At a glance, this is a pretty simple but visual ticket -- it's more appealing than many are out there from the past -- but this one showcasing Chargers star Philip Rivers is better than it looks to some degree. That four TDs is his career-high for a single game, though he did that nine times in his career. Aesthetically, this one isn't bad at all with some spot gloss and some embossing as part of the design. There's also some space right there in the middle for a nice silver-ink auto if that's your thing -- I'd sign it right atop that area of Photoshop dust in the design above the "Charge On" logo.
Stud or Dud? All that along with the player -- a future Hall of Famer -- and the performance gets it a Ticket Stud from me.
