With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.
This time? An MLB match-up that was in the headlines in the last few days.
Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.

What's Buzz-worthy: The weekend fireworks between these two teams doesn't really come into play here but it was a reason I grabbed this one out of my mystery box for some Wednesday afternoon time-filler. The biggest player here, Aaron Judge, had the day off for this game -- bummer -- but Torres had a strong day and the competition did have some big names on the roster all playing -- Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Jason Kipnis and even Yasiel Puig. (Remember him?) On the pitching side, nothing to see here at all. Aesthetically, the Yankees went with a player focus here -- something that they have done on tickets for years -- but while the spread of some visuals on a ticket sheet might look good names like this one, while a star on the team back then, don't always carry a lot of oomph years later or for people who aren't fans of the team. (There are worse players on tickets, too, and those are in my box.) Gardner went 0-for-3 in this one by the way. I guess it's better than a generic Ticketmaster ticket -- those are in the box, too -- so I guess stylistically it could be worse.
Stud or Dud? Brett Gardner doesn't bring much flash to this one ... but the game seemed like it was pretty good. With a game like this, this piece would be a good Torres autograph item ... but not with Gardner on it. Stud of a game, dud of a ticket.
