Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 20

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? An NFL game from a decade ago ... a sign of how times have changed.

The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Chargers QB Philip Rivers 23-for-37 for 252 yards and a TD
Others: Bengals QB Andy Dalton (14-for-23 for 190 and TD), Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (20 carries for 92 yards and TD), Bengals WR A.J. Green (five catches for 83 yards and TD), Chargers WR Keenan Allen (eight catches for 106)

What's Buzz-worthy: This game was 10 years ago yesterday but the names here feel like perhaps even longer ago with most barely on the NFL radar now if at all despite being some established names. Heck, the Chargers don't even play there now. One nice thing here? The player on the ticket, future Hall of Famer Antonio Gates, in those beloved powder blues make this one at least seem nicer at a glance. This ticket also has some simple embossing that make it feel a little more deluxe for a standard ticket -- I certainly found less-impressive tickets across the board in my mystery lot. The names above? Rivers is arguably the biggest but that game wasn't that good ... not good enough for the win at least, and the rest are fine names but not a big deal in most instances now.

Stud or Dud? Visually I think this one is a simple stud ... but the game, looking back now, feels like a dud.
