With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? A home run ticket from an MLB notable of today.

Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.

THE DETAILS ...
The Category:
Major League Baseball
The Event:
Oakland A's vs. New York Yankees -- May 11, 2018
The Result: Athletics 10, Yankees 5
The Attendance: 43,093 at Yankee Stadium
The Face: $20
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Yankees OF Aaron Judge -- 1-for-4 with a three-run HR and four RBI in the loss
Others: Yankees 2B Gleyber Torres with a HR and Oakland's Khris Davis, Matt Chapman, Jed Lowrie and Matt Joyce all with HRs, too. (Not a good day for pitchers.)

--

What's Buzz-worthy: A high-scoring game means a lot of potential names attached to a ticket -- at least ones that matter -- and while the ticket shows a somewhat-forgettable Aaron Hicks (0-for-4 in this game) on it, the Torres homer here was just the third of his MLB career (19th game) so that's cool. Meanwhile, the Judge homer was the 66th of his career and 10th of the season and Olson's was the 31st of his career ... so a few key games for key names here. (A lot of people collect home run tickets.) Design-wise, this one is slightly unusual with its film negatives approach showcasing the player more than the game info -- it would have been nice to see some team logos to the right -- but all in all it has a good feel ... just wish it was a better player. It's standard but non-traditional, so that helps it stand out vs. a generic logos-only or Ticketmaster text-only presentation.

Stud or Dud? A Judge homer makes this one a winner in my book with the early Torres also adding some Ticket Stud vibes to this one ... I'm kind of surprised I found it in a mystery lot.
