Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 24

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? A college football throwback from nearly a century ago -- a piece from a totally different world.

Here's what a full Yale ticket from that era looks like ... much, much pricier than mine.

THE DETAILS ...
The Category: College Football
The Event: Princeton Tigers vs. Yale Bulldogs -- Nov. 12, 1927
The Result: Yale 14, Princeton 7
The Attendance: 80,000 (estimated) at Yale Bowl
The Price: Unknown (face price on main portion of ticket ... this is just the stub)
The Cost (for me): $8

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): I'm not sure here ... check out the gallery and see what you can decipher from that Philadelphia Enquirer report. With only 12 NFL teams back then, it's possible that only a handful of players here even played professionally after this game ... and maybe none.

What's Buzz-worthy: This was the final game of the year for Princeton -- and it was their only loss so that had to burn a bit. Even worse? They had only given up only 17 points in all six of their previous games that season (6-1) for Coach Bill Roper, who is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Stud or Dud? Its condition isn't great and it's not that flashy but it does feel as old as it is with its simplicity of the past -- though not as flashy as a full ticket. (That full ticket above? That one's pushing $200 on eBay.) I also have seen asking prices a bit higher here, too. Is it some big-time find? Nah, but it feels like an interesting pseudo-Stud for the price.
