Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 27

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? An ideal look for an ideal day in spring training not that long ago.

The Category: Major League Baseball (spring training)
The Events: Colorado Rockies vs. Chicago Cubs March 24, 2018
The Results: Cubs 3, Rockies 0
The Attendance: 15,000 at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz.
The Price: $48
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot

The Ticket Studs (Key Player): Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo -- two-run HR (1-for-2)
Others: Cubs 3B Jason Vosler (HR ... and his MLB debut didn't come until 2021), Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, Jason Heyward, Javier Baez, Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story, Ryan McMahon

What's Buzz-worthy: Visually, this is a strong ticket and it's perfect in that the featured star was the star of the game ... the only drawback? The game didn't count -- spring training -- but, man, the cost was real for whomever grabbed it. (And it's not even behind home plate or anything ... winning the World Series a couple years before might have helped ticket prices.) Since this was such a low-scoring game and plenty of players were used as they were wrapping things up for the spring, this one doesn't really have any other names attached that matter all that much beyond Rizzo, but there are some good ones in the box score who had an AB or two in the game.

Stud or Dud? It's a nice little stud of a ticket if you ask me -- an ideal autograph item as long as the added ink is down low away from the facsimile and above the game info.
