Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 28

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? A Hall of Famer on the ticket -- and a pair of MLB debuts in the box score.

THE DETAILS ...
The Category: Major League Baseball
The Events: Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees Sept. 4, 2013
The Results: Yankees 6, White Sox 5
The Attendance: 36,082 at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, N.Y.
The Price: $50
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot

The Ticket Stud (Key Player): Yankees 2B Robinson Cano 3-for-4, HR (No. 203 in career), 2 RBI
Others: NYY's Derek Jeter, Curtis Grandson, Ichiro Suzuki, Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia (win), Mariano Rivera (save No. 649) ... and CWS' Paul Konerko and Marcus Semien (see more on him below) as well as SP Erik Johnson making his MLB debut.

What's Buzz-worthy: A future Hall of Famer on the stub is the highlight here with a uniform that he didn't wear all that long in the big scheme of things, while others of note among the hitters really didn't do all that much in this one ... but they're too big not to mention. The Chicago lineup included some of the typical names that may not resonate all that well today like Paul Konerko or Dayan Viciedo but this game also marked the MLB debut for Sox 3B Marcus Semien who went 2-for-4 in the game. He's been an All-Star in the 10-plus seasons since this one as well as a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winner, too.

Stud or Dud? Ichiro makes this one great visually and a pair of big-league debuts help here, too. I'll go with it being a Stud.
