With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.
This time? An NFL Salute to Service game with the look to prove it and a big-time game for a rookie, too.
Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.
THE DETAILS ...
The Category: Pro football
The Event: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Giants -- Nov. 19, 2018
The Result: Giants 38, Bucs 35
The Attendance: 75,863 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
The Price: $100 apiece
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot.
The Ticket Stud (Key Player): Giants rookie RB Saquon Barkley 27 carries for 142 yards and two TDs plus two catches for 10 yards and another TD
Others -- Giants: QB Eli Manning 17-for-18 for 231 yards and two TDs, WR Odell Beckham Jr. four catches for 74 yards and a TD; Bucs: QB Jameis Winston two passing TDs, RB Peyton Barber 18 carries for 106 and TD, WR Mike Evans six catches for 120 yards and TD, WR Adam Humphries TD, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick rushing TD

What's Buzz-worthy: A monster game for a rookie (a career-high in yards at the time) and several other stars among the notables in the box score ... how did these end up in a mystery lot? Well, Barkley arguably has fallen off the radar a lot after injuries and perhaps may not have topped this game, either (maybe, maybe not) while others here are veterans with a lot of options out there for collectors beyond tickets so, really, this one is all about the rookie. Also, both of these have some light bends on one corner that might have scared somebody off ... of course there are perhaps thousands of other tickets for this on out there, too. All the numbers are there for a good game -- it was a Winston-led near comeback -- and a good batch of collector names are attached to this one, too.
Stud or Dud? I think it's a Stud, though the visuals are quite simple here for a reason as it's a Salute to Service game. This would be a good item for a Barkley auto, though.
