With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.
This time? A pair of Hall of Famers on tickets for a past MLB game that had a classic finish.
Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.
THE DETAILS ...
The Category: Major League Baseball
The Events: St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers -- Sept. 15, 2015
The Results: Cardinals 3, Brewers 1 ... in 10 innings
The Attendance: 30,349 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Price: Apparently free as part of this program.
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot
The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Cardinals OF Jason Heyward -- 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the 10th inning (also two runs, a double and a SB)
Others: Cardinals' Matt Carpenter, Yadier Molina, Trevor Rosenthal; Brewers' Khris Harris (2-for-3, HR), Ryan Braun

What's Buzz-worthy: Buzz pulled this pair out of the ol' mystery box thanks to the design that showcases photos of stadium statues for Hall of Famers Hank Aaron and Robin Yount ... and it turns out this one had a Hall of Fame-caliber finish with an extra-inning homer from a notable who was once an All-Star and is a multi-time Gold Glove winner. The rest here? Plenty of players played ... not a lot of big names or big numbers to show for it. It happens ... that's baseball.
Stud or Dud? They're simple but they are different with high-profile names attached visually ... but the stock here is a very light cardboard (almost glorified paper) that is perhaps starting to slightly yellow as it ages along with a light printing job with no-frills like gloss (to help avoid that fade) or foil. The corners and edges show wear from the light stock for sure but other than those two things these are fine low-value Ticket Studs if you ask me. There are tons of tickets out there not showing anyone and plenty showing common players ... so Hall of Famers (even as statues) are nice.
