Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 49

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? A dominating day in college football action.

The Results: Alabama 59, Ole Miss 31
The Attendance: 99,590 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Price: $52 apiece
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa -- 26-for-36 for 418 yards and a school record six passing TDs along with one four-yard rushing TD.
Others: Crimson Tide -- WR DeVonta Smith 11 catches for 274 yards and five TDs, WR Jerry Jeudy eight for 84, RB Najee Harris nine carries for 71 yards, RB Brian Robinson 10 carries for 60 yards, playing time for QB Mac Jones, WR Henry Ruggs, WR, Jayden Waddle ... everybody mentioned being eventual NFL players.  Rebels -- QB John Rhys Plumlee 10-for-28 for 141 and two TDs and 25 carries for 109 yards and a score

What's Buzz-worthy: For some reason, I never checked the box score for this pair of tickets for my team back when I landed my bulk lots to make my box to pull from for this series ... and, well, this game was huge for my team and all of its eventual NFL standouts under Nick Saban. I looked at who was on the front of the ticket (defensive guys) and dropped 'em in the box with everything else perhaps in part since one has some minor stains and the clean one has a bumped corner. (Probably why a dealer let them go in a lot instead of slabbing one up given all the good names here for a good game.) Tagovailoa and Smith both set TD records for the program and shook things up in the SEC record books, too, to a degree. Tagovailoa's rushing TD also set a new school record for his career (81 at that point) and ended the game tied for the career passing TD mark, which he topped soon thereafter. Smith's yards also set a new school record. All of their marks set here still stand -- and since it was a blowout other guys got playing time. That list of NFL names here is solid ... and I'm sure there were others. (I only worried about the offensive side of things.)

Stud or Dud? Visually this isn't a perfect pair of tickets and condition could be better, too, but for their importance this is an A+ game. Ticket Stud.
