Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 6

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? Something non-sports that snuck into a sports ticket lot ... and it's another set of phantom tickets, too. (Deep reading if you don't know what that means.)

The Category: Music ... and a set of four tickets
The Event: Dave Matthews Band at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island (Chicago, Ill.)  -- June 26, 2020
The Results: Show canceled due to COVID-19
The Attendance: N/A
The Face: $150.84 per ticket ($603.36 total)
The Cost (for me): Literal pocket change as part of a lot.

What's Buzz-worthy: This one was an odd surprise in a bulk lot of tickets as music tickets can often be in some demand for either historic events or long-running acts. This one? Definitely a long-running act and the notation of "rain or shine" here rings with sad irony as this show was canceled due to COVID. The band announced all of its shows were postponed for the following year to be rescheduled on May 4, 2020. This was the first of back-to-back shows the band was to do, starting its tour in Connecticut 10 days before these shows and ending that fall. "We make this decision with the health, safety and well-being of our fans, touring crew and venue staff as our priority," read the band's announcement at that time. "We are incredibly grateful for all of our fans who come out to see us every summer and will miss seeing you all. For now, we will keep everyone in our hearts and minds until we can be together again." I can't imagine the history of the band has many canceled shows

Stud or Dud? Visually, these are a dud but then again a lot of tickets are -- these aren't like season tickets for sports teams -- but I think they're a cheap stud for something that shows a weird time in U.S. history.
