Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 8

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? We turn back the clock exactly four years to see what happened one night on the diamond.

THE DETAILS ...
The Category: Major League Baseball
The Event: Boston Red Sox at Detroit Tigers  -- July 21, 2018
The Results: Tigers 5, Red Sox 0
The Attendance: 31,682 at Comerica Park
The Face: $68 apiece ($272)
The Cost (for me): Literal pocket change as part of a lot.

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Jose Iglesias, who went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI
Others: Mookie Betts (2-for-5), Andrew Benintendi (2-for-3), Rafael Devers, Nick Castellanos, Mike Fiers

What's Buzz-worthy: These tickets are perhaps among the better-designed ones I have presented here as they are in essence a baseball card plus some for former Tigers infielder Dick McAuliffe who was a three-time All-Star, on the 1968 World Series championship team -- and finished his career for the team the Tigers faced on this date. The game itself was a tight one until the three-run shot in the sixth. (See the box score here.) Not a lot else going on with this one.

Stud or Dud? The ticket's format is clean and crisp with a nice display of a player but I doubt there's a lot of McAuliffe interest beyond Tigers diehards of a certain age. Two of these were clean and two had a little more damage though both were still connected as pairs. I'll go with one pair Stud, one pair Dud ... easy Stud for the price had there been a bigger name showcased on these tickets but it's fitting that the big name in the game also was a Tigers infielder.
