Topps celebrates International Trading Card Day on Aug. 5

The special day is once again going global ... and it's expanding its lineup this year.

Topps revealed on Friday that Aug. 5 will be International Trading Card Day in hobby shops around the world with Major League Baseball stars in packs along with Bowman U college football stars, Athletes Unlimited stars, UEFA Champions League stars, Formula 1 stars and even the Garbage Pail Kids on tap.

Collectors who visit participating hobby shops that day will receive a free five-card pack of Topps cards -- a choice from packs of the six entities mentioned. Atop that, anybody who purchases $10 or more of Topps or Bowman products on Aug. 5 will get a special Mike Trout card. If they come back on Aug. 12 and do that again, they'll get an Adley Rutschman card.

Packs will include five cards and a topper card. MLB packs will be most plentiful -- 40 percent of the packs allocated to a dealer -- while soccer will be 20 percent of the packs, Formula 1 will be 15 percent, Bowman U will be 15 percent and then the rares will be both Athletes unlimited and the Garbage Pail Kids at just five percent apiece. (Shops order and pay for 100-pack boxes to participate in the promotion.)
