If you found the MVPs in packs of 2022 Topps Chrome, you have a buyer.
That's because Topps is buying back copies of Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt cards from the set as part of the Topps MVP Buyback Promotion that begins on Saturday.
The program lets you can cash in for store credit at your local card shop or via Blowout Cards if you don't have one and it's good for cards from standard Chrome release as well as the Logofractor Edition and the 2022 Topps Chrome Sonic set coming in February 2023.
It will run until March 31, 2023, when a new baseball season begins. It's part of a Small Business Saturday effort from the company -- a move to help out all of the card shops around the country as well as spark even more interest from collectors.
Keep reading for the full details.
How does it work? It's as simple as above with the various types of cards for Judge and Goldschmidt having varying rewards as you can see in the gallery below -- they range from $20 up to $200 depending on the scarcity of the cards. A full FAQ and list of participating dealers can be found by clicking here.
For both Judge and Goldschmidt, all cards numbered /399, /350, /299, /250, /199, or /150, the buyback amount is $100. For all cards numbered /99, /75, /50, or /25, the buyback offer is $200. Topps encourages collectors to use the #ToppsMVPBuyback hashtag on their social channels to show off their wins or let their friends find out more about the program.
Judge and Goldschmidt Chrome cards in these releases that are limited to five copies or are 1/1s are not included in this program. The full program list for both players is below. (Click for a closer look.)
If you don't have a local shop, you can submit cards via Blowout with the detailed instructions at this link.
So, what's the deal? According to Topps, "We have something fun and exciting planned for the cards that are bought back. Stay tuned for more details" and "we are launching this program to create excitement among collectors, drive business to hobby shops, and generate enthusiasm in the hobby overall. There’s never been a better time to collect cards, and this program is designed to make collecting even better. There’s no catch -- just a great opportunity for collectors."
