Topps readies promo cards and more for The National

With The National just weeks away in Chicago, Topps has its promo cards and other plans for the show ready.

There will be a VIP set using the 1984 Topps design and a wrapper redemption program with a National-branded 2019 Bowman set.

The company will have guest appearances at its booth, pack wars, contests, its card wall and more at the show -- with just basics teased on Tuesday. The company also will unveil its National Baseball Card Day set's checklist at the show in advance of its arrival on Aug. 10.

The 1984 promo set will be all-Chicago in its checklist with Frank Thomas, Ryne Sandberg, Carlton Fisk, Kris Bryant and Ernie Banks in every VIP bag.

The wrapper redemption program will once again use a sticker for boxes purchased by participating dealers on the floor. For each box noted below, the buyer will get one or two stickers on their box and they need to bring those to the company's booth to open and get their packs. The promotion will begin on Wednesday evening of the show.

The National is set for July 31-Aug. 4 in at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago.

Topps signers at the show  ... 
-- Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, will be signing cards made just for the NSCC, limited to the first 100 people per day. Time: Friday, 2-3 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-noon

-- Artist Graig Kreindler, whose work can be seen in the 150 Years of Baseball set, will sign prints on Thursday from 2-3 p.m. they will be included as a gift-with-purchase for the 150th anniversary set being sold at the show. There is a maximum of three per person, per day.

-- Master chef Graham Elliot appears in 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter and will be signing for one hour beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Note: Signers can refuse to sign any items.

Topps Q&A
A Topps Q&A session will be done for two hours beginning Thursday at 5:30. Food and drinks will be available and there will be prizes. You must sign up to attend at the company booth. There also will be pack wars and case breaks at the company's booth -- ask for times.
