Topps Star Wars Galactic Moments set marks year-long cardboard march toward Episode IX release

Consider this the famous yellow-lettered Star Wars opening crawl ... but with cardboard.

Topps revealed the Topps Star Wars Galactic Moments set on Thursday, announcing that it will be a year-long card march to Star Wars: Episode IX arriving on Dec. 20, 2019. (The film doesn't even have a formal title yet -- and a teaser trailer is coming any time now ... right?)

Each week, there will be three new cards showcasing key moments in the history of the franchise and they'll be found on Topps.com. They'll be printed to order and will only be available for seven days.

The first three cards can be seen here and they are $7.99 with quantity discounts available as well as in three-card bundles for $14.99 much like the Topps Now platform used for sports cards on a daily basis while in season.

Topps has created Star Wars cards since the original installment of the franchise and this will be among the many offerings leading up to the nearest chapter in the Skywalker saga.

"The new set gives fan a chance to relive all of their favorite moments while holding on to what they have loved about Star Wars since they were children," said a statement from the company.
