Topps #TBT continues throwback approach for 2022

The first Thursday of 2022 is here and that means we've got the first chapter of the Topps #TBT set for this year -- and it's a release that will continue month-long looks at the past via new cardboard

Back are the photo variations and parallels -- and a smaller set that will have a theme carrying over more than one week.

The seventh year of the program will include just three cards per week with photo variations coming one in 20 packs and then parallels that are possible and limited to 10, five and just one copy just like last year.

This first set? It's a take on the 1983 Topps NFL set and it leads off with Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and Cal Ripken Jr. This one will run three more weeks until Topps switches to a different throwback -- in essence making each run 12 cards (with the possibility of working in players who have made waves on the field recently) instead of just five in one shot as it was two years ago.
