Topps #TBT throws things back to 2020 for first set of year

A new year is here and with this being the first Thursday that means it's time for the first Topps #TBT set of 2020.

If you don't know, this is a weekly offering via Topps' website where a memorable design from the past gets a new go with some new players in a small, affordable format.

For this one, they're throwing things all the way back to ... 2020.

No, really.

The design for this one is from the 2010 Topps 2020 insert set that offered a fast-forwarded look at the cardboard of today. Those 20 originals were printed on a lenticular-esque plastic stock and were inserts found one in every six hobby packs back in the day.

This time around, the $19.99 set of six cards looks like it might be on standard stock. Despite that, theres's some good news -- there are discounts available for those who order three sets ($49.99) direct via Topps.com. This first set of the year leads off with Ronald Acuña Jr. and also includes Juan Soto, Gleyber Torres, Alex Bregman, Rafael Devers and Shohei Ohtani.
