Travis Pastrana and Evel Knievel autographs are in demand

Buzz doesn't hit The History Channel that often -- unless there's maybe an American Pickers marathon on -- but there was a little bit of oldschool Americana there for three hours late Sunday night.

A show called Evel Live brought a little bit of daredevil insanity that felt right out of the 1970s as motorsports star Travis Pastrana successfully replicated three of Evel Knievel's biggest stunts all on live TV -- without any of the broken bones that the late star suffered in his Caesar's Palace jump that ended in jarring fashion that's been seen countless times in painful slow-motion.

Pastrana used an Indian Scout motorcycle -- a 340-pound beast much heavier and stiffer than his motocross equipment where he's done some insane stunts -- to jump 143 feet over 52 crushed cars, 192 feet over 16 buses and 149 feet to clear the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Before that last one, he wound his way through the crowded strip posing for selfies and high-fiving fans stuck in traffic in a way that would make Johnny Blaze proud.

You might not expect either of them to have a lot of cardboard -- and they don't -- but you can find certified autographs of each with some hunting.

Thanks to his time in the NASCAR ranks where he's driven trucks and stock cars, the 34-year-old former X Games champ has nearly 250 different cards and nearly 100 different certified autographs -- all from Press Pass in several brands (Press Pass, Showcase, Redline, FanFare, Legends, Ignite) from 2012-14. They're apparently not all that plentiful and have some decent demand as there's just one card on eBay (the /10 2013 Press Pass RedLine sheet metal card you see up top) and it's got a $99 price tag attached.

Knievel, who died at age 69 in 2007, has about 80 trading card appearances in all but just 10 or so certified autographs that have some serious price tags attached when they're found today. Most of his autos are of the cut variety but four of them -- his only cards signed directly for a card company -- are in the 2007 SportKings set. His most-available card is his Silver auto there (99 copies), while his standard autographed memorabilia card in the set is limited to 40 copies. The others are limited to just 10 copies. They're in demand and have some hefty prices on eBay, though you can find signed photos for less. Fans wanting unsigned cardboard can find him in that SportKings set, 2013 Panini Golden Age, 2016 Topps Heritage and tributes of sorts in the 2016 Garbage Pail Kids Apple Pie set. The Sportkings releases are loaded with memorabilia cards for him, too, with nearly 30 cards in the 2007 and 2008 sets and other 1/1s from 2013
