Turf & Dirt shop plans plenty for anniversary celebration

It wasn't an easy first year thanks to coronavirus, but they're almost there

You might remember them from this piece in March, and since then Turf & Dirt Sports Cards in Bellingham, Wash., has weathered the storm with its eye on a one-year anniversary roughly this time next month.

"We opened our shop to create the best environment possible for the community of sports card collectors," said owner Jimmy Sears, who opened it on Oct. 5 last year. "Being a new shop is always challenging, but a new shop during COVID-19, brought new challenges to being open and keeping the hobby going."

As part of its anniversary, it will be having a week of celebratory promotions that will include surprises from around the industry and beyond.

"Turf & Dirt prides itself on overcoming obstacles and thinking outside the box. We built up our website and expanded social media to meet the needs of our collectors and the hobby, both locally and throughout the United States and Canada," Sears said. "Our year anniversary is not only a celebration to us but also our community and the hobby, especially as we come out of COVID-19. We have a week-long celebration planned and are reaching out to our manufacturers, distributors, local sports teams and community to help provide giveaways or donations for prizes that can be used for daily drawings."
