Upper Deck readies NSCC VIP set & reveals other show plans

Those who pick up a VIP ticket package for this year's National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland will have a five-card Prominent Cuts set from Upper Deck in their bag and that's just the start of what the company has planned for the five-day show that begins on Aug. 1.

The stars leading the way in that set? Ben Simmons, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Serena Williams.

That set will be joined by a wrapper redemption program where collectors who open packs at the company's booth will get even more Prominent Cuts with shots at autographs inside their redemption packs. To get a pack, you'll have to open five packs of 2017-18 Upper Deck Series 2, O-Pee-Chee Platinum, Synergy or SP Authentic along with a voucher from the dealer you bought them from at the show. A purchase of 2017-18 Ultimate Collection or Premier will get three packs. They'll run each day while supplies last. Those who open a case of Ultimate Collection, Premier or NHL Ice will get eight packs and a raffle ticket that could be good for a random memorabilia item, premium hobby pack or box, a premium card or Prominent Cuts VIP auto card.

There also will be a promotion called Cleveland Legends where a purchase of five packs of any 2017-18 Upper Deck NHL product will yield two cards of James. The company also will once again have its Monumental boxes ($1,000) that will have five Upper Deck Authenticated memorabilia items inside. There will be just 150 boxes made with five of those being Superstar Boxes that will have items from Jordan, James, Woods, Williams and Simmons. There will be UDA Hot Boxes with all items signed by the same star or team -- five Simmons boxes, three Woods boxes and two Cavaliers hot boxes. Oversized items will be in the mix in Monumental, too, with their redemptions being instantly redeemable at the company's booth.
