Tim Burton is bringing Through the Looking Glass to the big screen this week with a new surreal installment of the Alice in Wonderland tale and Upper Deck will revisit the story as well in an upcoming trading card set.
Goodwin Champions has been known for its unusual inclusions in its run with Upper Deck, which began back in 2009. This year's edition will include hand-painted booklets that revisit the Alice story chapter by chapter when it arrives in July.
So, yes, the card seen above is a hand-painted creation.
There will be 21 cards in the set and each will be limited to 10 copies per card. The paintings on each copy of each card will be as similar as possible to create a feeling of continuity while also maintaining the unique feel of original art.
As previously noted here in our First Buzz preview, there also will be cuts from an early copy of the book in addition to these painted cards.
