USA Baseball & Panini America extend card-licensing deal

USA Baseball remains on Panini America's team.

Both parties revealed on Monday that a second "long-term extension" of their deal that launched a decade ago has been signed, giving Panini the exclusive rights to create baseball cards for its stable of teams. That includes the Collegiate National Team down to the developmental squads for teens.

“Our relationship with USA Baseball has given us the ability to showcase tomorrow’s stars first as they make their way through the USA Baseball program,” Panini CEO Mark Warsop said in a prepared release. “We look forward to continuing the partnership and featuring the top prospects in the game.

There will be at least one annual standalone card release from Panini, according to the announcement with a USA component in other products.

"USA Baseball is excited to continue our partnership with Panini America through which collectors and fans can continue to find the first baseball cards of the game’s top prospects," said USA Baseball COO David Perkins. "Our national teams and national team development programs are comprised of new players each year and those changing rosters make USA Baseball content truly unique in the baseball card industry."

This year's USA Baseball product is set to arrive next month.
