Wild Card Five Card Draw offers up surer shots for new autos

The luck of the draw still comes into play with the new Wild Card release -- but every box has a sure shot at rare stuff.

In fact, every pack of the newly released 2022 Wild Card Five Card Draw football cards has a rarer autograph inside and every box includes a pack with a 1/1 auto in it, giving you a surer shot at rarities for guys who are already competing on the biggest stage.

Thanks to an early batch of promo boxes sold to collectors in advance of this new arrival (live today at link above), there are also some strong sales of cards to see already. The leader in the eBay Completed Sales Clubhouse -- so far -- is the Breece Hall 1/1 auto above that sold for $415 after 37 bids. It's not alone, either, with a dozen early sales over $100 and another 16 over $50 ... from boxes that include five hits and are opening with modest prices.

If you don't know the basics here, above is a breakdown from Wild Card. Each box includes five numbered packs and the "1" pack will always include a 1/1 card, while the "2" pack will always include cards numbered to no more than two copies and so on. That means 60 auto cards per case -- nothing more than five copies -- and 12 1/1 cards per case as well as 12 cards from all other volumes. Designs will be from four looks -- Classic, Vintage, Contemporary and Modern -- and there will be eight parallel colors -- Tan, Blue, Purple, Green, Gold, Orange, Red and Black -- and then two colors of foil stamping. Draft picks such as Hall and Kenny Pickett are leading the way but there are also NIL deal players here who should be worth chasing -- Texas Longhorns star Bijan Robinson and Ohio State Buckeyes standout C.J. Stroud -- they are "draft preview" players who are part of a meaty lineup of around 100 players.

Back to eBay, Kenneth Walker III, Bailey Zappe, Pickett and Romeo Doubs are among top sales (see a quick but not comprehensive sampling in gallery below) while asking prices for Pickett cards as well as Desmond Ridder, Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker are all strong right now considering box prices ... and considering that every box includes a 1/1 and other rare stuff.
