Yoshitomo Tsutsugo's 2017 Topps baseball cards heating up

There could be a new slugger on his way to MLB from Japan -- and you might already have some of his baseball cards.

Yoshitomo Tsutsugo will posted by his team, the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, soon and that means MLB teams will have a shot at signing him. He's a guy who has hit 139 homers in the last four years -- his best season being 2016 when he hit .322 with 44 homers and 110 RBI.

Thanks to the World Baseball Classic, he's already got a few baseball cards that have been found in past Topps packs -- and, of course, he has BBM cards if you want to go further back into the past.

Tsutsugo appears on nearly 75 different cards from Topps which created cards for the WBC in 2017. Nearly all of them are serial-numbered and a few of them are memorabilia cards -- all in just a few releases. He can be found on Bowman, Bowman Chrome, Bowman Chrome Mini, Triple Threads, Allen & Ginter, Diamond Icons and Museum Collection cards. He also appears on a Topps Now card with Team Japan.

The Bowman cards are all a variation of the card you see above but it might be his memorabilia cards that pick up steam beyond the rarer Refractors. Tsutsugo has a pair of Relics in Ginter limited to 99 and 10 (framed Relic). He's also got a trio of cards in Diamond Icons -- just 16 total cards -- while Museum Collection has four different Quad Relics. Triple Threads finishes things out with a dozen different Relics with all of them limited to no more than 36 copies. The asking prices on eBay so far are big in some instances for Bowman Chrome parallels but actual sales of his cards have not been that high -- but there is a lot of rare stuff on his checklist that could be pretty volatile if he lands in a prime spot.

The 27-year-old outfielder who also has played a pair of infield spots made his Japanese debut as an 18-year-old in 2010 and has hit .284 with 205 home runs and 615 RBI in 978 career games.
