Blowout MegaMix's remix ups ante for pack-ripping fans

The annual Blowout MegaMix has a remix of sorts going on this year -- and there's plenty that hasn't yet been revealed for the new mystery box coming for the National Sports Collectors Convention.

And, as usual, you don't have to go to the show to land one (click here to pre-order). There's a new approach this year that ups the variety to ideally hit more collectors' interest sweet spots while lowering the price point to let more fans dig into the chase. That simple change? Packs.

The left side of the sellsheet you see above is just the start of what's up for grabs in this edition -- this time it's a box with at least 10 packs inside as the starting point. New this year there also will be sealed cases of these boxes -- six boxes per case -- that offer up some smaller bonuses and a surer shot at some of the bonus items that are planned to land every third box with this one. The bonuses this time? See the right side above ... and that's the start.

Over the coming days, we'll take a look at more of what's in store for this year's MegaMix. Today, we look at packs ...

How about some packs?

The starting point ... 
Yes, this is the same image as the sellsheet above but with a little more visible. There will be Sapphire Chrome, premium online releases like Ben Baller Chrome, HTA Jumbo packs from loaded releases and more. There will be years with iconic-player Rookie Cards -- I spy Giannis packs -- as well as favorite brands such as Optic and Prizm. The packs are the focus this year -- every box with at least 10 -- with bigger, more iconic boxes, premium single cards and memorabilia pieces among the bonuses.

But these aren't the only kinds of packs in the Mix this year ...

Also joining them? The VIPs ... 
Premium packs like Topps Transcendent VIP Party packs will be in the mix with these often including stamped 1/1 cards, hits and more that helped party-goers add a little pep into their high-end steps at past events. We secured a number of passes over the years and have a number of packs going into MegaMix this time. ...

And The Strength of Sapphire ...
Sapphire has been a cool color for Chromies to dig into the last few years and that has translated into plenty of action between Formula 1 and MLB ... they'll be in there. Will others make the cut? Buzz doesn't know ... but that doesn't mean they won't be.

Plus ... Prizm Power!
Hobby packs and retail packs from one of the biggest brands of the last decade will be in play here ... could color for some of those key cards still be sitting inside them? How about hits? Anything is possible with this one. New WWE, older NBA and NFL and draft picks releases in between will all be in play in this one.

Possible Prospecting Prowess
Several years of Bowman, Bowman Draft and Topps Chrome HTA Jumbo packs will be in the mix this time with early MLB cards for young stars as well as Chrome, Refractors and, of course, ink all possible as well. Bowman Draft, a hobby-only release, will lead the way with Topps Chrome also packing heat.

How about some cardboard?

There will be high-end bonus singles throughout the MegaMix  and today's update here shows some of the possibilities in this one. High-end Transcendent, anyone? That's a starting point -- a release loaded with Hall of Famers' and current stars' ink.

That's not all ... 
NBA fans will have their shot at some of the biggest young names in the league as well as some playing right now in the NBA Finals -- cards from Panini Instant releases, Instant Access cards and other promotional/online cards that we've amassed for this one. The image below shows a high-end sampling.

Another look at the Transcendent haul ...
It won't just be Hall of Famers in the Mix with this one -- stars from today and Bowman Transcendent will be in there, too, along with some other young NBA notables who snuck into the frame.

Top-notch Topps Now ink, too
Greats of today and legends of the past have shown up in Topps Now releases -- both for daily MLB action as well as throwback inclusions over the years -- and there will be all these and more in store in this year's MegaMix.

And even more Transcendent ... 
Stars of the 1980 and 1990s who aren't in the Hall of Fame as well as today ... all in the Mix. Transcendent's high-end status means many -- if not all -- of the boxes got broken and they're not likely to be found later ... so caches like these could become tougher to find over time. That could mean players who might be overlooked now value-wise might not be later.

Boxes as bonuses? Yep ... they're the big chase this year.

Some of the boxes that are in this one are the home to some big, iconic cards today -- but are more realistically big cardboard museum-piece items on their own as sealed entities excluding the possible greats inside. Among them? How about 2009 Bowman Draft, which has a shot at Mike Trout, and 1993 Upper Deck SP, which is the home of Derek Jeter's top Rookie Card. They are not alone ...

And it's not just baseball ...

Kobe, LeBron and more ... 
NBA fans know the rundown of the possibilities here quite well but Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson (both in 1996-97 Topps Chrome) and LeBron James (2003-04 SP Authentic and Topps Chrome) are all possible along with other stars in the boxes you see above. They'll be in the Mix ... and again are not alone.

Two NFL GOATs, too ... 
Patrick Mahomes is among the top draws in 2017 Panini Prizm, while Tom Brady RCs might be found in 2000 Fleer E-X. Sealed, these are pricey boxes and they are in the Mix.

Yes ... there's a Precious Metal Gems chase, too.
These years include shots at big, big cards in the world these days -- Precious Metal Gems -- that aren't necessarily the easiest finds but neither are unopened boxes of 1997-98 0r 1998-99 Fleer Metal Universe. They're in the Mix.
