What's buzz-worthy: The now-annual release of Topps MLB cards for the Japanese market has arrived with a number of new inclusions to go with what's essentially a parallel product with a smaller set and stars from all three flagship series in one spot.

The Basics: This one will include 220 cards in the base set with stars from all three Topps series this year. Parallels will include Cherry Blossoms (one in 13 packs), Jade Green (one in 18), Purple (one in 26), Gold (one in 52), Red (one in 257) and 1/1 Platinum cards one in 1,276 packs. ... Among the inserts will be 15 Shohei Ohtani MVP cards with Gold, Red and Platinum versions as well as a set of 35 1987 Topps Cherry Tree variations (three per box) that will have Gold, Red and Platinum parallels in play. There also will be hits here -- autographs one in 61 packs with Gold, Red and Platinum versions as well as an MVP Commemorative Relic Patch card set for Ohtani. ... He also will sign 15 MVP cards and Japan Edition autograph cards. ... Other signers will include Bo Bichette, Bobby Witt Jr., Hideki Matsui, Ichiro Suzuki, Julio Rodriguez, Oneil Cruz and Wander Franco for starters. ... Boxes of this one carried an initial price of ￥18,480.
