Piece of the Game brings game-used and autographed Artballs to blind-box format

Veteran artist Monty Sheldon's Artballs are coming to collectors in a new way soon.

Just 15 boxes of Piece of the Game Baseball Authenticated Masterpieces will now arrive in late March with each of them containing 10 blind-wrapped autographed game-used baseballs adorned with his colorful artwork inside.

They're all one-of-a-kind paintings on MLB Authenticated signed and game-used baseballs except for one which will be a ball signed by Babe Ruth on its sweet spot.

The baseballs will be from all types of plays as well as from MLB debut games. Players will have three portraits as well as three action shots in the mix -- all with ornate paintings on them from Sheldon. You may have seen his baseballs in the latest Topps Transcendent release where they were occasional bonuses.

This time, there's nothing but artballs and it's a lineup that includes veterans Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, David Ortiz, Derek Jeter, Jose Altuve, Mike Trout, Kris Bryant, Albert Pujols, Clayton Kershaw, Bryce Harper, Buster Posey, Carlos Correa, Miguel Cabrera, Ichiro Suzuki, Manny Machado, Giancarlo Stanton, Adrian Beltre, Gary Sanchez and Paul Goldschmidt in addition to the ball for "The Bambino" -- a first for the artist.

There are also rookies found in this one with an average of 1.75 newcomers per box. That lineup includes Shohei Ohtani, Rafael Devers, Ronald Acuña Jr., Rhys Hoskins, Juan Soto, Gleyber Torres and Ozzie Albies.

Each box also will include one of 15 dual-player autograph and painting balls. The combos will include Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo, Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell, Rafael Devers and Mookie Betts, Chipper Jones and John Smoltz, Madison Bumgarner and Clayton Kershaw, Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, Mike Trout and Bryce Harper, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa, Bryce Harper and Max Scherzer, a second Bryant and Rizzo ball and one final mystery ball.

"Every game used baseball I paint is tied directly to the player represented," Sheldon said in the Blowout Forum thread for this one. "For example, the Ronald Acuña Jr. baseball shown below is his first MLB double of his career. I even used an image of him from that very game as my reference."

Just 15 serial-numbered maple and ash custom boxes will be made for this first release.
